Summit 16 Nike Coach -  Steve Carrera has coached and helped qualify teams to the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals Championships age levels 14 to 18's for over 17 years. Prior to his 2013 return to Dallas Summit, Steve was one of the founders of NorTexVolleyball where he also served as a director and coach for 4 years. In his previous tenure with Dallas Summit, Steve served as a director and coach for over 10 years. During this time he helped transition Dallas Summit to it current Plano location.
Steve serves on the North Texas Region Volleyball Board of Directors as the Vice President of Ethics and Eligibility. He played locally at Jesuit in high school and played club volleyball at Texas A&M University. Steve also played beach and grass volleyball. During this time he was invited to play in several AVP qualifying events and the Jose Cuervo Gold series.
Steve is Impact Certified,SafeSport Certified and Positive Coaching Alliance Certified.

Andy Gass

Summit 14 & 17 Nike Coach -  Andy and his wife, Brandy, created Nitro Volleyball Club in 2002. Andy is the Creative Director of an Advertising Agency in North Dallas and a proud father of three. Andy is Impact certified. Andy attended USAV CAP Level I in Bethany, Oklahoma and USAV CAP Level II in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2004, Andy traveled to Colorado Springs to train at the Olympic Training Center during USAV CAP Level III. Andy’s article Starting a Club: The Story Behind the Creation of Nitro was published in Coaching Volleyball magazine in April 2007, recognizing all of his hard work. Andy is the Head Varsity Coach at Hockaday. Prior to coaching at Hockaday he was the Varsity Assistant Coach at Parish Episcopal School from 2006-2010. In 2010, 2009, 2008 & 2007 Parish went to the final 4 of State and in 2008 they won the State Championship. In 2005 he was the Varsity Head Coach at Garland Christian Academy and the Varsity Assistant and the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Ursuline Academy in 2001 & 2002. Andy has been a Club Coach 20 years & a Club Director for 16 years. Head Coach 14 National team for the 2014-2015 season. Bronze Medal at the North East National Qualifier and earning a spot in the 14 Open Girl’s National Championships, finishing ranked 22nd in the Nation. Head Coach 15 National team 2015-2016 season. Bronze Medal at the Show Me National Qualifier and earning a spot in the 15 Open Girl’s National Championships, finishing ranked 23rd in the Nation. Head Coach 16 National team 2016-2017 season. Bronze Medal at Big South National Qualifier and earning a spot in the 16 Open Girl’s National Championships. Earning a Open Bronze Medal finishing 3rd in the Nation!

Brad Lawson

Summit 15 Nike Coach -  Brad Lawson returns to Summit Volleyball and the Dallas area for his 6th club volleyball season. Previously with Summit Volleyball as a club director and head coach, Summit made tremendous advances towards their goal of returning to the top of DFW club volleyball. His 15 Mizuno and 17 Mizuno teams posted huge victories over the season, finishing 5th and 9th respectively and the organization as a whole improving its overall regional ranking. Brad spent the last two years in his home state of New Mexico to be with the love of his life. During this time he worked as the COO, Club Director, and master coach for Ardent Volleyball Club, formerly New Mexico Juniors. Helping restructure and rebrand New Mexico Juniors to Ardent Volleyball Club and also contribute to revitalizing the club into one of the most successful clubs in New Mexico and Albuquerque area. Brad also spent time coaching with Sandia Prep (4A) and Cibola High (6A) Schools, winning back-to-back state championships at Sandia Prep in 2015 and 2016 and one also at Cibola in 2014. Brad started his coaching career in the Houston area as a former college assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for three years at Alvin Community College; he also spent four years as the women’s club team head coach and as a volunteer assistant coach at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Brad has spent a large part of his career working in conjunction with Andy Reitinger at developing and implementing logistical solutions for large tournaments and events. Some of their clients include entities such as FIVB, USA Volleyball, Southern California Volleyball Association and Club Sports of North Texas just to name a few. Brad has been coaching volleyball for the past 19 years, and his tournament and coaching experience will prove to be an invaluable asset with Summit Volleyball. Brad is currently an IMPACT and CAP level II certified coach

Scott Nuby

Summit 15 & 16 Nike Coach -  Scott Nuby joins Summit Volleyball and brings over 20 years of experience as a player and coach. He has qualified over 15 teams for Nationals in multiple age groups. He has qualified many teams to be part of the Tour of Texas. Scott also helps run multiple camps and clinics and has attended and worked countless college and professional camps that includes High Performance and USAV camps. We are excited to have Scott and his family join Summit Volleyball.

Kristi Rayburn

Summit 13 Nike Coach -  Coach Rayburn's coaching philosophy is dedicated to providing advanced training to players to prepare them for the next steps in their volleyball career. Kristi Rayburn has had volleyball in her life for 20 years. She began playing basketball and volleyball as a young girl in a small North Texas town. She attended Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. During her college years, Kristi captained a number of teams to USAV Open National Championships. In 2009, Kristi and her beach partner Amanda turned their love for volleyball into a professional endeavor...they joined the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour and were seeded as high as 42nd and played all over the country. Kristi has been coaching for over 12 years. She started at Fort Worth Country Day School, then moved to Dallas and coached 5 years with Club Legacy, 3 years with the Flyers, and this will be her 3rd year coaching at The Episcopal School of Dallas. She has qualified 2 teams for Nationals and has 3 former players playing collegiate volleyball. This will be her first year with Summit. She and her husband, Joe, are the parents of two star athletes and one hopeful. Abby is a sophomore at JJ Pearce HS and is a part of the Color Guard and JV basketball team, Logan is a junior at Parish Episcopal School and is the starting DB and wide receiver for the Varsity football team, and Clinton is 5 years old starting Kindergarten at Bowie Elementary! This family is very competitive in all that they do; whether it is a board game, a video game, or just a friendly game of basketball. Kristi believes you can accomplish anything with determination, hard work, and faith in God.

Scott Sandel

Summit 14 Nike Coach -  Scott has 27 years of coaching experience spanning from high school to division one college. He is currently the varsity head coach at Plano East High School. Scott has an extensive knowledge and passion of the game at all levels and strives to provide each athlete with the tools and training that they need to succeed and obtain their goals. Prior to coaching in Plano, Scott coached for 7 years at Amarillo Tascosa where he made the 5A state playoffs in all seven years and obtained a district championship. While in Amarillo, Scott was also the director of Amarillo Juniors volleyball club and led them to the most successful period in the club's history. Scott's college coaching career spans 18 years. He was the assistant coach at West Texas A&M, Northern Arizona and South Carolina and the head coach at Northern Michigan and Boise State. Scott's college experience is invaluable in understanding the college recruiting process and rules, which assists the club in guiding an mentoring each athlete through their volleyball career. He also understands the training necessary to achieve the highest level of play possible and will set the curriculum accordingly.
